Personal Poe Response
Edgar Allan Poe’s works are very closely related to his eerie nature. In fact, most poets’ poetry reflect what they write, since poems are supposed to ‘come from the heart.’ Poe possesses a more interesting character than other poets, which in turn makes his poems unique from other poems. Most people would imagine that all poets and authors reside in an elegant estate and compose their works while looking at a beautiful sunset from their balcony. As a result, their compositions have a smooth and flowing effect, usually like any other piece of writing. However, I find Poe’s works interesting because his working environment is far different than usual. Poe wanders the street at night and lives in the most unsuitable conditions most of his life. Thus he gets his inspiration from there. As a result, Poe produces unique, bizarre poems and narratives, which I find to be a delightful variation from the traditional ‘romance’ theme.
Similarly, the quality of my work in school always reflects my mood on that day. When I am in high spirits, I often volunteer in class and work at a higher level of performance. However, if I haven’t a good humor, I work at a slower pace and am not eager to receive follow-up assignments. Although I try to avoid the influence of bad humor in my work, it always shows itself in a subtle form. Fortunately, I am usually in high spirits and enthusiastically finish challenging assignments.
Many of Poe’s works bear a significant meaning to me. The most important moral comes from “The Raven.” Many people interpret the poem in many different ways. The raven in the poem symbolizes a particular person’s grief and misery that he is trying to escape. Poe portrays these feelings as a raven since it can ‘fly’ back to you when you thought that you had ‘set it free’. In addition, the black feathers of the raven bring about gloom. People should be especially careful when they think that they have escaped the torments of misfortune. I believe that this is the most valuable lesson to be learned, as this gloomy situation will cast its shadow over everyone someday- we are all mortals.
