White Man's Burden - Indians

            We have never seen such a group of ignorant people sit on a mound of gold and wealth and put it to waste. If we settlers had access to that land, we would put it to much better use that would greatly benefit America’s economy. The Indians have merely touched these valuable resources that they don’t even need.

            There are several good reasons, which make us worthy of the land we need. Farmers will use these lands to plant tobacco and cotton. This will greatly boost the nation’s economy. America will not only be richer, but out crops and agriculture will drive other countries out of competition. In addition, more settlers are moving westward by the day. Our population is growing rapidly. We need more and more land to accommodate our citizens. Furthermore, there are gold in the hills. We also need this to trade with other countries. The Indians are living on a land of wealth that they don’t need, and could go on living fine without it. We need this land if you want the United States to rival the other countries and put them out of competition.

            The Indians do not need this particular area of land. The natives hunt and gather. The Indians could hunt and gather almost anywhere. We need this fertile land for farming. The natives said that they would take better care of the land than we could. Well, you can’t take better care of land if you do not use it! So why is there anything to take care of? There is plenty of untouched land in the United States. The natives do not need to worry about preserving land in America. We, the Georgians, need this land more than them. Settlers will have to make room for the settlers moving in.

            Although the Indians have been here for many years, they have not made much use of this land. We can turn this open plain into a bustling city over night! Settlers will use the gold mines as a source of trade. Farmers will benefit from the land’s fertile soil. This is a perfect way to boost the nation’s economy without risk. At the same time, this will relieve the crowded and overpopulated city of people. However, the only way to make this plan successful is to remove the Indians, and this we must do!
